Vaishali Desai’s recipe: TRIFLE

TRIFLE!

Ingredients:

Pound cake
Packet of jello
Heavy cream
Custard Powder
Fresh Strawberries

Method:

If you are planning to make a trifle, then make the jello night before so that it sets by the morning. Do not try making jello the morning of, in case it doesn't set in time.

To make the whip cream, get a carton of heavy cream (medium or tall carton, depending on how much trifle you will make, i used a medium size for my tray) and whip the cream with an electric beater until its thick. add sugar for desired sweetness.

To make custard, dissolve 2 tablespoons of custard powder in a little bit of milk. Boil a cup of milk in a saucepan and slowly whisk in the dissolved custard mixture into the milk and keep stirring until becomes a creamy consistency. Add sugar for desired sweetness. Let it cool

To put together the trifle, get a square or round clear deep dish. Slice the pound cake into even slices. Place a layer of the cake at the bottom, then a layer of the custard and a layer of the whip cream. As you layer all the ingredients, remember to place the strawberries around the border. (Cut strawberries in half). Keep layering until you reach the top. Top it off with the jello. You can decorate the top with fruit if you like. Then refrigerate until time to serve

Enjoy!!
